Using personal photography equipment (can be a cell phone), capture event including team photos, start & finish line photos, sponsors, & festival area photos. Volunteer Photographers are expected to share full rights to digital media with the MS Society in-kind within 2 weeks of the event taking place.  Do not need to be a professional photographer. 

Setting up/breaking down area with appropriate supplies, managing the mission area during the event which may include passing out bandanas, Society print materials, speaking to constituents about MS Society. Staff may also be present at the opportunity. 

Set up and manage hydration station along the stairwell route—welcoming and motivating participants, serving water, restocking supplies, and keeping the area clean and organized.

Standing at the finish line to cheer on participants, using noise makers, handing out medals/mementos, often these volunteers are asked to bring encouraging signs or cheering swag from home to the event. 

Volunteer Check-In Assistant: This role supports the lead by helping manage volunteer check-in, confirming roles and consent forms, distributing volunteer materials, collaborating with staff and logistics partners, and directing volunteers to areas of need. 

Site Set Up: Duties include unloading trucks and distributing supplies, setting up tents, tables, and chairs, hanging banners and signage, decorating tents and tables, and more. This volunteer role is easy to pair with others if you are interested in being involved for the whole day because set up duties are fulfilled once event time rolls around. We ask that most volunteers for this team be able to lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds. 

Registration & Information Team: Key responsibilities include welcoming participants, looking up participant names and confirming their information, answering questions, and accepting fundraising donations. This role is a seated position, and a background check is required. All volunteers are also expected to assist with event set-up and break-down. 

T-Shirt Distribution: Assist in handing out participant t-shirts. Organizing supplies and shirts by size and type, handing out shirts to qualifying participants, keeping area tidy, providing excellent customer service.  

Food & Beverage: Set up/taking down the food and beverage area, put out snacks and beverages, and provide an elevated experience for Top Fundraisers.

Event Greeters: First impressions are important! Greet walkers and welcome participants as they arrive, answer basic questions about the walk site and event (materials will be provided), and help direct walker traffic to appropriate areas (registration area, team tents, rest rooms, etc.).

First Aid Volunteers are CPR/First Aid certified individuals, not required to be licensed medical professionals such as EMTs, EMS personnel, who provide basic first aid to event participants at designated support locations, including the start/finish area and stations along the route.

Spirit Team: You are here to motivate, encourage, and congratulate participants on their achievements! Using provided supplies (or your own), cheer on participants at the start, finish, and along the route. 

Route Unmarking Assistant: Unmarking event route with signage to indicate the direction participants should follow. Often this task is completed in collaboration with a staff, committee member, or another volunteer utilizing a vehicle or golf cart. 

Tear Down Team: These volunteers come in fresh near the end of the event to help the tired staff team clean up the event site. Responsibilities include picking up trash, taking down decorations, signage and banners, breaking down tents, tables, and chairs, organizing and loading supplies, and anything else needed to ensure the walk site is cleaned and cleared. Heavy lifting up to 50lbs may be necessary, but non-heavy lifting tasks are also available.

Not required but spirit team generally cheers on participants at start, then helps with teardown/other misc. tasks while walkers are out, then return to finish line to cheer on participants again.
