Welcome in the VIPs at the reception area. Tasks may include setting up/breaking down area, decorating, providing great customer service, and checking on access credentials.

Unloading and distributing supplies, setting up tents, tables, and chairs, hanging banners and signage, decorating tents and tables (heavy lifting required ≤50lbs).

Checking in volunteers, ensuring paperwork is turned in and volunteers receive a t-shirt and instructions for their volunteer shift.

You will place directional signs along the route to guide the walkers. 

Setting up/tearing down registration event area, organizing supplies, checking off participants names, collecting registration forms if required, collect donations, welcoming participants, providing excellent customer service, and assisting Society staff as needed. *Must complete a background check and 18 years or older to process donations. *

New area that will feature participant walking bibs for personalization.  Used to be called "I Walk for" bibs and was often a part of Registration. Volunteers in the area will need to spot check supplies.

Roam the site with baskets of Circle of Support circle fans, passing out to all participants and explaining what they are and how to use during the Program

Why I walk will manage supplies and keep them stocked for the duration of the event. This area has Bibs that participants can decorate and share their reason for participating in Walk MS.

Take photos of the Top Fundraisers and their teams

Setting up and organizing food service area, handing out food to participants, cleaning up area and putting away supplies.  Basic and safe food preparation and handling is required, and volunteers will be provided handwashing station/gloves, etc.

First Aid Volunteers consists of certified medical professionals (EMT, EMS, RN, etc.) who administer First-Aid to event participants. The support locations can include rest stops, lunch, overnight, finish, and along the route.

Directs participants to various areas in the festival area

Using personal photography equipment, capture event including team photos, start & finish line photos, route photos, & festival area photos. Volunteer Photographers are expected to share full rights to digital media with the MS Society in-kind.  Photographers will be asked to focus on Team Photos, candid, start or finish line photos.

Setting up/taking down hydration area. Welcoming and encouraging/congratulating participants, mixing sports drinks, serving beverages,  icing down beverages and replenishing supplies as needed, keeping hydration area clean. Water stops are along the route and hydration stations are located on event sites.

Cleaning up the event site, taking down decorations, signage, banners, breaking down tents, tables, and chairs, organizing and loading supplies (heavy lifting required ≤50lbs).

You will remove directional signs along the route to guide the walkers. 

Standing at start or finish line to cheer on participants, using noise makers and handing out medals/mementos. Often these volunteers are asked to bring encouraging signs or cheering swag from home to the event.
