Unloading and distributing supplies, setting up tents, tables, and chairs,  hanging banners and signage, decorating tents and tables (heavy lifting required ≤50lbs)

Rest Stop Volunteers will help with the setting up/taking down of the site, running hydration/fruit stations, serving food and beverages to participants, providing excellent customer service. (Occasional lifting may be required).  

Motorcycle Marshals provide motorcycle escort support along the route to troubleshoot problems and ensure rider safety. When needed, they respond to emergencies and traffic situations. Responsibilities may include: Starting the ride ahead of cyclists; monitoring the flow of riders; communicating with Tour officials via the command center or net control; and handling minor incidents. *Motorcycle Marshals must have a valid motorcycle driver's license and proof of insurance covering the motorcycle to be ridden in Bike MS.  

Like bicycle riders, all Motorcycle Marshals are required to wear a helmet.

Motorcycle Marshals are encouraged to be active amateur radio operators with VHF/UHF HAM radio capability on the motorcycle and a cellular phone for backup communications. 

Respond to medical or bicycle mechanical calls along the route. Contact emergency services, as necessary. Proof of current first aid and CPR certification, driver's license, and automobile insurance required prior to event. Driver's training required. 

SAG Navigators are partnered with our SAG drivers to help move participants on the route. Their specific purpose is to serve as communication with other SAGs and Net Control. You may be asked to help load/unload bicycles for participants. Please leave a comment if you are a HAM Radio operator. 

Our SAG drivers (support and gear) use vehicles to shuttle participants along the route. Drivers are partnered with a SAG navigator for directions and extra help loading/unloading the vehicles. Proof of current driver's license and automobile insurance required. Background check required. Please leave a comment if you are also a HAM Radio operator.  

Using personal photography equipment, capture event including team photos, start & finish line photos, route photos, & festival area photos. Volunteer Photographers are expected to share full rights to digital media with the MS Society in-kind.  Photographers are supplied an approved shot list.

Welcoming participants, looking-up participant name, confirming information and giving numbered packet to participant(s), taking fundraising donations and more. (Background check required for volunteers handling donations)

Volunteers will help a member of our staff organize shirts by size and type, and then hand them out to qualifying participants using a check-list. Keep the shirts tidy and clearly separated for easy access.

Setting up and organizing food service area, handing out food to participants, cleaning up area and putting away supplies.  *Basic and safe food preparation and handling is required and volunteers will be provided handwashing station/gloves, etc. 

Helping staff with various tasks throughout the event, setting up/tearing down event site, communicating with other volunteers,  filling in for others on an "as needs" basis (lifting may be required)

Help set up the area, work with staff to hand out bandanas and resources to people living with MS. Help to tear down the event area.

First Aid Volunteers are CPR/First Aid certified individuals and do not have to be licensed medical professionals (EMT, EMS, RN, etc.) but they can be, when available. They administer First-Aid to event participants. The support locations can include start/finish, and along the route.

Provide vehicle assistance on the bike route. Keep an eye out for any riders in need of help, double check signage, and coordinate with other staff and volunteers to lend a helping hand where needed. 

Ride Marshals have the important job of riding alongside participants and providing assistance when problems arise. Because of this, Ride Marshals should be confident cyclists, and have their own equipment (bike, helmet). If needed, Ride Marshals respond to emergencies and traffic situations while also contacting the necessary support (Medical, MS Staff, HAMS).

Ideally, we would like our Ride Marshal volunteers to be First Aid certified in case of any incidents along the route. Please leave a comment if you are not certified. 

Greet participants as they arrive

Standing or sitting at the start/finish line to cheer on participants, using noise makers, handing out medals/mementos, often these volunteers are asked to bring encouraging signs or cheering swag from home to the event.

You will be helping to clean up the event site; taking down banners and decorations, tables and chairs, loading supplies into trucks, etc. Please note that some lifting will be required.
