Unloading and distributing supplies, setting up tents, tables, and chairs,  hanging banners and signage, decorating tents and tables (heavy lifting required ≤50lbs)

Provide riders with their bib, bike and helmet stickers, and other pertinent event supplies (VIP credentials, wristbands, etc.) if they have not received them at a pre-event packet pickup. Riders may visit the Registration area of this tent for same-day ride registration. (Background check required for volunteers handling donations)

Setting up and organizing food service area, handing out food to participants, cleaning up area and putting away supplies.  *Basic and safe food preparation and handling is required, and volunteers will receive handwashing station/gloves, etc. 

Loading/Unloading bikes from truck(s), organizing bikes by rider number in bike compound area, checking bikes in/out of secured area, providing great customer service to cyclists (lifting required ≤ 25 lbs.).

Welcoming participants and directing them to the appropriate areas at the event site, answering questions as needed, ensuring registration lines are moving quickly and that participants have all necessary materials completed before they get to the front of the line

Helping staff with various tasks throughout the event, setting up/tearing down event site, communicating with other volunteers, filling in for others on an "as needs" basis (lifting may be required)

Answer phone calls from participants in need of assistance. Coordinate SAGs and HAM radio operators. Serve as liaison between communications volunteers and staff. Contact emergency services, as needed.

Motorcycle Marshals provide motorcycle escort support along the route to troubleshoot problems and ensure rider safety. When needed, they respond to emergencies and traffic situations. Responsibilities may include: Starting the Tour on Days 1 and 2; monitoring the flow of riders; communicating with Tour officials via the command center or net control; and handling minor incidents. *Motorcycle Marshals must have a valid motorcycle driver's license and proof of insurance covering the motorcycle to be ridden in Bike MS. Like bicycle riders, all Motorcycle Marshals are required to wear a helmet. Current policy does not allow trikes or any other motorcycle variations with more than two wheels; sidecars; or trailers towed behind the motorcycle. Motorcycle Marshals are encouraged to be active amateur radio operators with VHF/UHF HAM radio capability on the motorcycle and a cellular phone for backup communications.

Responsibilities include:

Informing riders to slow down upon approaching intersection

Instruct cyclists to dismount on the curve

Help facilitate cyclist passage across cross walks

Bike Mechanics provide technical, mechanical, and repair service support on route and at various sites during Bike MS.

Setting up bike racks, checking bikes in/out of secured area, ensuring cyclists receive great customer service.

Setting up/breaking down area with appropriate supplies and managing the mission area during the event. This may include disseminating Society print materials and speaking to constituents about the MS Society. This area may include community focused area or mission focused areas like "I Ride For" bibs. This is a seated opportunity!

**Volunteer familiar with MS and the Society highly encouraged**

Standing or sitting at the start/finish line to cheer on participants, using noise makers, handing out medals/mementos, often these volunteers are asked to bring encouraging signs or cheering swag from home to the event. Late shifts may be asked to help clear up as the event draws to a close.

Take charge of setting up and decorating team tents, acting as a concierge for specific teams, providing customer service and information to participants and team captains as needed.

Assisting VIP participants at the VIP reception area, which might include excusive swag distribution, food and beverage, VIP parking, exclusive massage area, VIP shower area, and more. Tasks may include setting up/breaking down area, decorating, serving, cleaning-up and providing great customer service.
