New area that will feature participant walking bibs for personalization. Used to be called "I Walk for" bibs and was often a part of Registration. Volunteers in the area will need to spot check supplies.

Setting up/taking down Circles of Support tent, set up and manage circle fans and offer instruction to participants on what they represent and how to use during the Program. 

Roam the site with baskets of Circle of Support circle fans, passing out to all participants and explaining what they are and how to use during the Program.

Welcomes Top Fundraisers into the TFA Area. Provides information and able to answer general questions.

Stationed at the step-and-repeat display to assist TF participants take photos. Can use their personal photography equipment, cell phone or participants cell phone. If more than one in TFA area, can take candid photos around the area.

Setting up/taking down the food and beverage area. Provide an elevated food and beverage experience to TFs, set out water and other beverages, serve coffee (if not self-serve) lay out snacks. Keep area clean.

Emptying trash and recycles bins, picking up trash and generally keeping area clean and safe. Restock water and ice. Periodic checks on portos that they have toilet paper, etc.

Assisting photographers with set up, gathering participants, using props or signs, staging photos, reminding participants to use appropriate tags for social media, etc.

Setting up tent/area with activities for kids, running activities for kids that may include coloring, face painting, lawn games, bubbles, cleaning up area and putting away supplies. *Background check required

Stage Manager: The Stage Manager must be organized and able to communicate effectively with the event Host, Honoree and their Circle of Support representatives, and the A/V Team.  Previous experience in event management is preferred.

Help us make sure Walk participants, staff, and volunteers stay full and hydrated! Assist with setup, restock, and cleanup of food and beverage area in the main tent. 

Walkers need to stay hydrated on the route! Support them by working at the water stop, making sure there is plenty of water available for any participants who need it. Help setup, staff the water stop, and cleanup at the end of the event.

Support NMSS staff members in the registration and information area to help participants feel welcome and prepared for Walk MS. Help get walkers checked-in, oriented, and registered if necessary.

This role may involve accepting donations, so a background check is required.

This one is for the early risers! A crucially important role, this team of volunteers supports NMSS in setting up the Walk site on event day. Responsibilities include unloading and distributing supplies, setting up tents, tables, and chairs, hanging banners and signage, decorating tents and tables (heavy lifting required up to 50lbs). May involve helping to mark the route with signage.

This team of volunteers supports NMSS in cleaning up the Walk site on event day. By the end of the walk, staff and volunteers are running low on energy, so a fresh influx of volunteers to help with tear down is extremely helpful!

Responsibilities include taking down tents, tables and chairs, signage, banners, finish line arch, and packing up supplies and loading them onto vehicles. 

First Aid Volunteers consist of certified medical professionals (EMT, EMS, RN, etc.) or First Aid/CPR certified individuals who administer first aid to event participants as needed. Proof of a current First Aid/CPR certification (within the last two years) is required. 

A dedicated photographer to capture photos of Walk MS participants, volunteers, and staff in action is necessary to document the day. If you'd like to share your photography talents with us on event day, please sign up for this shift!

Professional photography equipment is not required, but volunteers are expected to share their content with the National MS Society after the event.

Walkers love encouragement and motivation as they start, finish, and along the route. Help us cheer un our Walk MS participants as part of the Spirit Team! This is a great opportunity for groups such as co-workers, athletic teams, and Greek organizations.

First impressions are important! Greet Walk MS participants as they arrive and help them get to where they need to be. If you are a friendly and outgoing person who loves to be helpful, this position is for you!

The Top Fundraiser Area is a VIP experience for participants and teams who fundraised the highest amounts for Walk MS in 2025. Volunteers will support check-in, a photo area, and the food and beverage area of the Top Fundraiser Area.

In Tent Volunteers - Setting up/taking down Circles of Support tent, set up and manage circle fans and offer instruction to participants on what they represent and how to use during the Program. Take inventory post event of circle fans.

Roaming Volunteers - Roam the site with baskets of Circle of Support circle fans, passing out to all participants and explaining what they are and how to use during the Program. Best recruits for this role are outgoing and love talking with participants.

The Volunteer Lead creates a working infrastructure throughout the event. Key Responsibilities include:

• Collaborate with Staff and logistics company (where available) to gain full understanding of volunteer needs

• Run event volunteer check-in and direct volunteers to areas in need

• Manage large groups of volunteers in multiple locations

• Serve as liaison between Staff and volunteers on event weekend

Working with Volunteer Check-In Lead - checking in volunteers, ensuring paperwork is turned in and volunteers receive a t-shirt and instructions for their volunteer shift. Should be comfortable managing Volunteer Tent if Lead should need to leave or go on a break.
