Retrieves registration forms that have been manually filled out and delivers them to the person assigned to input the registration in the system. 

Amateur radio operators are assigned to several different groups or stationed at different locations along the route.

Volunteer massage therapists must provide a digital copy of their massage licensure and insurance. Massage therapists use touch to treat and alleviate participants’ injuries and fatigue as well as promote general wellness.

Ride along with participants and provide support along the route to troubleshoot problems and ensure rider safety. When needed, they respond to emergencies and traffic situations.

Must also register as a rider. Volunteer Lead will reach out with a code to sign up at no cost.

Checking to ensure participants entering the VIP tent are wearing their VIP wristband or are on the list. Providing great customer service.

Helping staff with various tasks throughout the event, setting up/tearing down event site, communicating with other volunteers,  filling in for others on an "as needs" basis (lifting may be required)

Welcoming participants, looking-up participant name, confirming information and giving numbered packet to participant(s), taking fundraising donations and more. (Background check required for volunteers handling donations)

Checking in volunteers, ensuring paperwork is turned in and volunteers receive a t-shirt and instructions for their volunteer shift.

Setting up/breaking down area with appropriate supplies, managing the mission area during the event which may include disseminating Society print materials, speaking to constituents about MS Society. This area may include community focused areas or mission focused areas like "Wall of Hope," "I ride for"/"I walk for" bibs or similar collateral, may vary by market.

Using personal photography equipment, capture event photos along the route and at rest stops. Volunteer Photographers are expected to share full rights to digital media with the MS Society in-kind.

Provide riders with their bib, bike and helmet stickers, and other pertinent event supplies (VIP credentials, wristbands, etc.) if they have not received them at a pre-event packet pickup. Riders may visit the Registration area of this tent for same-day ride registration. (Background check required for volunteers handling donations)

Responsibilities/ Requirements Include:

*All Motorcycle Marshals are required to wear a helmet

*If you are First Aid/CPR certified and would be willing to provide First Aid support on route. Please add to the comment section when registering. 

*Encouraged to be active amateur radio operators with VHF/UHF HAM radio capability on the motorcycle and a cellular phone for backup communications.

*Motorcycle Marshals must have a valid motorcycle driver's license and proof of insurance covering the motorcycle to be ridden in Bike MS. Both must be sent to the MS Society in advance of your shift.

*Current policy does not allow sidecars or trailers towed behind the motorcycle. 

*HAM license and the ability to operate from your motorcycle are encouraged.

Taking photos at the start line.

Welcoming participants and directing them to the appropriate areas at the event site, answering questions as needed, ensuring registration lines are moving quickly and that participants have all necessary materials completed before they get to the front of the line

Welcoming participants, ensuring luggage is properly tagged, checking participants' luggage
in/out of secured area, lifting, and moving duffle bags, tents, coolers, and luggage cases, providing excellent customer service. (Lifting required ≤ 20 lbs.)

Using personal photography equipment, capture event including team photos, start & finish line
photos, route photos, & festival area photos. Photographers are expected to share full rights to digital media with the MS Society in-kind within 2 weeks of the event. All day commitment is preferred but not required

The Support & Gear (SAG) Volunteers drive in vehicles on route to provide support, transport riders back to start when needed, communicate incidents with staff, and more.

*SAG Drivers are required to complete and pass a Motor Vehicle Report Check and Background Check by September 1, 2026 to serve in this role.

Activities include: Using personal photography equipment, capture event including team photos, start & finish line photos, route photos, & festival area photos. Volunteer Photographers are expected to share full rights to digital media with the MS Society in-kind. 

Ride along with participants and provide support along the route to troubleshoot problems and ensure rider safety. When needed, they respond to emergencies and traffic situations.

Responsibilities may include: Starting the Tour on Days 1 and 2; monitoring the flow of riders; communicating with Tour officials via the command center or net control; and handling minor incidents. *Motorcycle Marshals must have a valid motorcycle driver's license and proof of insurance covering the motorcycle to be ridden in Bike MS. Like bicycle riders, all Motorcycle Marshals are required to wear a helmet. Current policy does not allow trikes or any other motorcycle variations with more than two wheels; sidecars; or trailers towed behind the motorcycle. Motorcycle Marshals are encouraged to be active amateur radio operators with VHF/UHF HAM radio capability on the motorcycle and a cellular phone for backup communications.

All volunteer drivers are required to meet the following standards

• Pass a criminal background check

• Pass a Motor Vehicle Record screening

• Be at least 25 years of age

In addition, all volunteer drivers must have average visual acuity; the ability to drive a 15-passenger van (or similar vehicle) through tight rider/pedestrian areas; possess the ability to lift 40 pounds, such as large bicycle. It is important that SAG drivers practice patience and can handle high-pressure situations

Motorcycle Marshals provide support along the route to troubleshoot problems and ensure rider safety. When needed, they respond to emergencies and traffic situations. Responsibilities may include the following: Starting the route on Days 1 and 2; monitoring the flow of riders; communicate with staff officials via the command center or net control; and handling minor incidents. Like bicycle riders, all Motorcycle Marshals are required to wear a helmet. Current policy does not allow trikes or any other motorcycle variations with more than two wheels; sidecars; or trailers towed behind the motorcycle. *Motorcycle Marshals must have a valid motorcycle driver's license and proof of insurance covering the motorcycle to be ridden in Bike MS.

Bike Mechanics provide technical, mechanical, and repair service support on route and at various sites during Bike MS.

Amateur radio operators are assigned to several different groups or stationed at different locations along the route. This is a one- or two-day commitment, depending on your location. Help SAG drivers navigate the route; serve as communication point at rest stops

Bike medics ride amongst the other riders and provide medical assistance along the route. The level of care will usually be BLS but can include BTLS and ALS. Other duties may include traffic control, minor bike repairs and rider information. EMS volunteers must have a minimum ECA or greater. BTLS, ACLS and any other specialty certifications are welcome. They are not required to be affiliated with a fire department or EMS service, but some pre-hospital experience is preferred. EMS will carry BLS as well as BSI items. Communication is via cell phone to the ride's Command Center/Net Control.

Responsibilities/ Requirements may Include some or all of the following:

Help us welcome and cheer on our riders as they pass by Rest Stop #2 near Stinson Beach.

You'll unload and load basic rest stop supplies from our delivery truck, set up/take down the stop supplies, pass out provided food and beverages, cheer on and flag cyclists into rest stop, provide excellent customer service. 

Groups, Costumes, Teams, and fun silliness are all welcome! First Aid Qualified volunteers are particularly welcome, too.

First Aid Volunteers consists of certified medical professionals (EMT, EMS, RN, Medical/Nursing Students etc.) who administer First-Aid to event participants.*This volunteer position is not a bike-riding position.

This position provides basic first aid to the cyclists at the Rest Stop location. Tent and basic supplies provided - Volunteers are welcome to bring their own first aid equipment.

Responsibilities include:

Informing riders to slow down upon approaching intersection

Instruct cyclists to dismount on the curve

Help facilitate cyclist passage across cross walks

Taking photos on the route.

Standing at the finish line to cheer on participants, using noise makers, volunteers are encouraged
to bring signs or cheering swag from home to the event

Ride Marshals are registered cyclists who act as both Good-Will and Safety Ambassadors for Bike
MS. Ride Marshal applicants must be 18 years of age, be passionate and knowledgeable about safe cycling, and be willing to work with fellow cyclists to promote safe cycling. Ride Marshals must have completed at least one Bike MS event within five years.

The medical support team consists of certified medical professionals (EMT, EMS, RN, etc.) who administer First-Aid to Bike MS event participants. The support locations include start line, rest stops, lunch, overnight, and finish sites. Shift times will be based on location. *This volunteer position is not a bike-riding position.

This stop is where riders can stop and eat a lunch provided for them.
