Looking for volunteers to fill positions in the brand new Top Fundraiser Area! Available roles are listed below:

TFA Lead: Assisting Top Fundraiser (TF) participants n the Top Fundraiser Area (TFA) and more. Tasks may include setting up/breaking down area, decorating, providing great customer service, registration, food & beverage, and passing out credentials. Manages TFA to create an outstanding event experience for Top Fundraisers. (Might be a non-Relationship staff member but talk with your local team during assessment)

Greeters: Provides excellent customer service and registration services for Top Fundraisers, Includes setting up/breaking down TFA
Welcomes Top Fundraisers into the TFA Area. Provides information and able to answer general questions 

Food and Beverage: Setting up/taking down the food and beverage area. Provide an elevated food and beverage experience to TFs, set out water and other beverages, serve coffee ( if not self-serve) lay out snacks. Keep area clean.

All TFA Volunteers: Cleaning up and assisting with teardown of the Top Fundraiser Area (including folding up tables, helping pick up trash, etc)

Unmarking event route with signage to indicate the direction participants should follow. Often this task is completed in collaboration with a staff, committee member, or another volunteer utilizing a vehicle or golf cart.

Timing for this role may change as we get closer to the event date. The time set currently is the earliest it would be.

Cleaning up the event site, taking down decorations, signage and banners, breaking down tables, and chairs, organizing and loading supplies 

Helping staff with various tasks throughout the event, setting up/tearing down event site, communicating with other volunteers,  filling in for others on an "as needs" basis (lifting may be required)

New area that will feature participant walking bibs for personalization. Used to be called "I Walk for" bibs and was often a part of Registration. Volunteers in the area will need to spot check supplies. Excellent role for MS Ambassadors.

Standing at the finish line to cheer on participants, using noise makers, handing out medals/mementos, often these volunteers are asked to bring encouraging signs(either pre-prepared or from home) or cheering swag (available at volunteer tent)

Not required but spirit team generally cheers on participants at start, then helps with teardown/other misc. tasks while walkers are out, then return to finish line to cheer on participants again.

Loading and unloading bikes into truck(s), organizing bikes by rider number, organizing bikes by rider number in bike compound area, checking bikes in/out of secured area, providing great customer service to cyclists (lifting required ≤ 25 lbs.)

• Run event volunteer check-in and direct volunteers to areas in need
• Manage large groups of volunteers in multiple locations
• Serve as liaison between Staff and volunteers on event day

Checking in volunteers, ensuring paperwork is turned in and volunteers receive a t-shirt and instructions for their volunteer shift. 

Site Set Up: Duties include unloading trucks and distributing supplies, setting up tents, tables, and chairs, hanging banners and signage, decorating tents and tables, and more. This volunteer role is easy to pair with others if you are interested in being involved for the whole day because set up duties are fulfilled once event time rolls around. We ask that most volunteers for this team be able to lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds. 

Key Responsibilities Include:

Setting up/taking down the site (may include tents, tables, chairs, and additional support
unloading the supply truck), running hydration area (may include mixing sports beverages where applicable), serving food to participants (single serve where possible); encouraged to bring decorations and signs to cheer on riders as they enter/exit your stop.

Using personal photography equipment, capture event including team photos, start & finish line photos, route photos, & festival area photos. Volunteer Photographers are expected to share full rights to digital media with the MS Society in-kind.

Working with Volunteer Check-In Lead - checking in volunteers, ensuring paperwork is turned in and volunteers receive a t-shirt and instructions for their volunteer shift. Should be comfortable managing Volunteer Tent if Lead should need to leave or go on a break.

Distribute t-shirts to participants.

Provides high-level of customer service and registration services for Top Fundraisers,   Includes setting up/breaking down TFA Check-in,  providing check in and registration services, answer questions.

The Stage Manager must be organized and able to communicate effectively with the event Host, Honoree and their Circle of Support representatives, and the A/V Team. The Center has been historically known as the Living with MS Area, and includes things like the Wall of Hope and a station for the “I Walk for” bibs. Volunteering in the Center includes setting up supplies for those stations and restocking them throughout the event, as well as handing out any printed materials from the Society or talking with participants about the MS Society. If you are an MS Ambassador or are interested in becoming one, this may be a wonderful opportunity for you!

Setting up/taking down Circles of Support tent, set up and manage circle fans and offer instruction to participants on what they represent and how to use during the Program.  Take inventory post event of circle fans. 

Roam the site with baskets of Circle of Support circle fans, passing out to all participants and explaining what they are and how to use during the Program.  Best recruits for this role are outgoing and love talking with participants.

Welcomes Top Fundraisers into the TFA Area.  Provides information and able to answer general questions

This display allows participants to look at the stories of other people affected by MS and share their own. Volunteering for this station includes setting up and taking down the Complete the Circle interactive graphic, and managing the circle stickers. You will also instruct to participants on how to fill out and apply circle stickers to graphic.

Route Marking Assistant

Assist a staff member with marking event route with signage to indicate the direction participants should follow. Often this task is completed in collaboration with a staff, committee member, or another volunteer utilizing a vehicle or golf cart.

Setting up and organizing food service area, handing out food to participants, cleaning up area and putting away supplies.  *Basic and safe food preparation and handling is required and volunteers will be provided handwashing station/gloves, etc. 

Setting up/breaking down area with appropriate supplies, managing the area during the event which may include passing out bandanas, Society print materials, speaking to constituents about MS Society. Taking inventory post event of diagnosis date stickers and I walk with MS bandanas. Usually staffed with at least one Staff member.

In conjunction with the volunteers at the Circles of Support tent, our roamers will walk through the site prior to the event with baskets of the Circles of Support fans, handing them out to participants and explaining how to use them during the program. Periodically check in with the tent volunteers in case they need extra help and to grab more supplies as needed.

First Aid Volunteers are CPR/First Aid certified individuals and do not have to be licensed medical professionals (EMT, EMS, RN, etc.) but they can be, when available. They administer First-Aid to event participants.  The support locations can include start/finish, and along the route.

Shuttle participants along the route. If driving own vehicle, proof of current driver's license, automobile insurance required.  *Completed Safety Training and Background check required for all drivers and navigators.

Volunteer Photographers are expected to share full rights to digital media with the MS Society in-kind within 2 weeks of the event taking place.  Does not need to be a professional photographer. First Aid Volunteers consists of certified medical professionals (CPR and Fist Aid Certified) to support Walk participants. Support locations include start/finish line and along the route.

Setting up/taking down hydration area. Welcoming and encouraging/congratulating participants, serving beverages, icing down beverages and replenishing supplies as needed, keeping hydration area clean.

Volunteers will serve in a variety of roles: food service, hydration, spirit team, team area, set up, etc. Actual assignment will be determined upon check-in.
