Bike MS: Coast the Coast

Lavalette Gazebo Bay Blvd and Washingon Ave Rest Stop Crew: Setting up/taking down the site, running hydration/fruit stations, serving food and beverages to participants, providing excellent customer service. (Occasional lifting may be required). 

Each Rest Stop Team will have a LEAD assigned before the event. The Lead will communicate with the VE Lead and/or EP throughout the event and if anything is needed at the rest stop.  They will receive and distribute lunches for volunteers at their stop and stay until breakdown is complete.

First Aid Volunteers are CPR/First Aid certified individuals and do not have to be licensed medical professionals (EMT, EMS, RN, etc.) but they can be, when available. They administer First-Aid to event participants. The support locations can include start/finish, and along the route.

Shuttle participants along the route. If driving own vehicle, proof of current driver's license, automobile insurance required. *Completed Safety Training and Background check required for all drivers and navigators.

Using personal photography equipment (can be a cell phone), capture event including team photos, start & finish line photos, sponsors, route photos, & festival area photos. Volunteer Photographers are expected to share full rights to digital media with the MS Society in-kind within 2 weeks of the event taking place.  Does not need to be a professional photographer. Shot lists will be shared.

Assisting photographers with set up, gathering participants, using props or signs, staging photos, reminding participants to use appropriate tags for social media, etc.

Rest Stop Volunteers will help with the setting up/taking down of the site, running hydration/fruit stations, serving food and beverages to participants, providing excellent customer service. (Occasional lifting may be required).

First Aid Volunteers are CPR/First Aid cerfited individuals and do not have to be licensed medical professionals (EMT, EMS, RN, etc) but they can be, when available. They administer First-Aid to event participants. The support locations can include start/finish, and along the route.

Shuttle participants along the route. Must be 16+, possess a valid driver's license , no background or safety training required but prior knowledge of how to drive a golf cart helpful.

Volunteer Photographers are expected to share full rights to digital media with the MS Society in-kind within 2 weeks of the event taking place.  Does not need to be a professional phtographer. This role is a seated position, and a background check is required. All volunteers are also expected to assist with event set-up and break-down. 

T-Shirt Distribution: Assist in handing out participant t-shirts. Organizing supplies and shirts by size and type, handing out shirts to qualifying participants, keeping area tidy, providing excellent customer service.

Check in/Greeters: Welcomes Top Fundraisers into the TFA Area.  Provides information and able to answer general questions 

Photo Area: Stationed at the step-and-repeat display to assist Top Fundraiser participants take photos using their cell phones 

Food & Beverage: Set up/taking down the food and beverage area, put out snacks and beverages, and provide an elevated experience for Top Fundraisers.

Food & Beverage Team: Key responsibilities include setting up and organizing the food service area, handing out prepackaged food and beverages to participants, replenishing snacks as needed, keeping the area clean and sanitary, and cleaning up and packing away supplies.

Ride Marshals: Ride along with participants and provide support along the route to troubleshoot problems and ensure rider safety. When needed, they respond to emergencies and traffic situations.

Route marking volunteers arrive early to mark the route with directional arrows, usually on a bicycle or with two people in a car. Routes are marked at all intersections and at all turns. Some walks offer two routes and arrows will be different colors. Volunteers should be familiar with the area and able to follow written directions and route map. Route marking volunteers will then remove the arrows at the end of the walk, unless otherwise noted. 

Event Greeters: First impressions are important! Greet walkers and welcome participants as they arrive, answer basic questions about the walk site and event (materials will be provided), and help direct walker traffic to appropriate areas (registration area, team tents, rest rooms, etc.). 

Spirit Team: You are here to motivate, encourage, and congratulate participants on their achievements! Using provided supplies (or your own), cheer on participants at the start, finish, and along the route.

Brick Beach Rest Stop First Aid: First Aid Volunteers consists of certified medical professionals (EMT, EMS, RN, etc) who administer First-Aid to event participants at this Rest Stop.

*This volunteer position is not a bike-riding position.

Responsibilities include picking up trash, taking down decorations, signage and banners, breaking down tents, tables, and chairs, organizing and loading supplies, and anything else needed to ensure the walk site is cleaned and cleared. Heavy lifting up to 50lbs may be necessary, but non-heavy lifting tasks are also available.

Bike MS: Ride the Rhode on June 13, 2026, at University of Rhode Island

Spirit Team (SUNDAY):  Standing at the finish line to cheer on participants, using noise makers, handing out medals/mementos, often these volunteers are asked to bring encouraging signs or cheering swag from home to the event.

We are looking for groups, clubs, cheerleading teams, marching bands, and individuals who want to come and support the cyclists.

The Volunteer Lead creates a working infrastructure throughout the event. Key Responsibilities include:

• Collaborate with Staff and logistics company (where available) to gain full understanding of volunteer needs

• Run event volunteer check-in and direct volunteers to areas in need

• Manage large groups of volunteers in multiple locations • Serve as liaison between Staff and volunteers on event weekend

Working with Volunteer Lead - checking in volunteers, ensuring paperwork is turned in and volunteers receive a t-shirt and instructions for their volunteer shift.  Should be comfortable managing Volunteer Tent if Lead should need to leave or on a break.
