Why I walk will manage supplies and keep them stocked for the duration of the event. This area has Bibs that participants can decorate and share their reason for participating in Walk MS.

Take photos of the Top Fundraisers and their teams

Setting up and organizing food service area, handing out food to participants, cleaning up area and putting away supplies.  Basic and safe food preparation and handling is required, and volunteers will be provided handwashing station/gloves, etc.

First Aid Volunteers consists of certified medical professionals (EMT, EMS, RN, etc.) who administer First-Aid to event participants. The support locations can include rest stops, lunch, overnight, finish, and along the route.

Directs participants to various areas in the festival area

Using personal photography equipment, capture event including team photos, start & finish line photos, route photos, & festival area photos. Volunteer Photographers are expected to share full rights to digital media with the MS Society in-kind.  Photographers will be asked to focus on Team Photos, candid, start or finish line photos.

Setting up/taking down hydration area. Welcoming and encouraging/congratulating participants, mixing sports drinks, serving beverages,  icing down beverages and replenishing supplies as needed, keeping hydration area clean. Water stops are along the route and hydration stations are located on event sites.

Cleaning up the event site, taking down decorations, signage, banners, breaking down tents, tables, and chairs, organizing and loading supplies (heavy lifting required ≤50lbs).

You will remove directional signs along the route to guide the walkers. 

Volunteer role includes setting up/taking down the rest stop, serving food and beverages to participants, providing excellent customer service. (Occasional lifting may be required).

On-line and recorded training provided prior to the event. 

Standing at start or finish line to cheer on participants, using noise makers and handing out medals/mementos. Often these volunteers are asked to bring encouraging signs or cheering swag from home to the event.

This is a stationary role that will direct cyclists that they are going the correct path based on their chosen route. Route map and instructions provided.

HAM Radio

Packet Pick-up volunteers will assist staff members look up cyclist information and give them their registration packets. This is a great job for families, school or athletic groups, boy and girl scout troops, etc.

Minimum training required. Please list in the notes if you require a seated position or additional accommodations.

Volunteer Photographers are expected to share full rights to digital media with the MS Society in-kind within 2 weeks of the event taking place.  Does not need to be a professional photographer. Shot lists will be shared.

Set-up volunteers arrive early to help unload the supply truck and prepare the walk site by distributing supplies, setting up tents, tables, and chairs, hanging banners and signage, decorating tents and tables, and more! Heavy lifting required ≤50lbs.

This is a great job for families, school or athletic groups, boy and girl scout troops, etc.

You are the kind of volunteer who loves to have fun! You will dress up as a pirate and swashbuckle all over the bike reception!

Set-up volunteers arrive early to help unload the supply truck and prepare the event site by distributing supplies, setting up tents, tables, and chairs, hanging banners and signage, decorating tents and tables, and more! Heavy lifting required ≤50lbs.

This is a great job for families, school or athletic groups, boy and girl scout troops, etc. Often, set-up volunteers continue to a different assignment after set-up such as rest-stop or registration.

You are the kind of volunteer who can talk to anyone! You will assist cyclists and spectators where to go (i.e. Food/Hydration Tent, packet pick-up, Team Tents) Breakfast/snacks provided. 

Welcoming participants and directing them to the appropriate areas at the event site, answering questions as needed, ensuring registration lines are moving quickly and that participants have all necessary materials completed before they get to the front of the line.

Shuttle participants along the route. Proof of current driver's license and automobile insurance required. Background check required. Indicate if HAM Radio operator.

NET Control - Start/Finish Line HAM License required

Patrol route and assist participants with basic first aid or bike repairs (ex: flat tire). Background check, motorcycle license, and vehicle insurance required prior to event. Helmet required.

Welcoming volunteers and directing them to the appropriate areas at the event site, answering questions as needed. This role will work alongside a staff member.

You are the kind of volunteer who will volunteer wherever there is the biggest need. You float around, filling in for breaks. Lunch/snacks provided.

Here volunteers will create a party under a tent that will excite and encourage ride participants to continue on there journey to end MS! Volunteers arrive early to help unload the supply truck and prepare the site by distributing supplies, setting up tents, tables, and chairs, hanging banners and signage, decorating tents and tables, and then handing out food & snacks to bike participants! 

If you want to be a Rest Stop Captain, which means taking ownership of a Rest Stop and recruiting your organization, job, church or group of friends to host and decorate a Rest Stop, please leave that in the note sections of this opportunity. 

This is a great job for families, school or athletic groups, boy and girl scout troops, etc. Lunch and snacks are provided! 

As a First Aid volunteer, you will assist cyclists with basic cuts, road rash, blisters, bug bites and other basic first aid tasks. 911 will be called with emergencies. You need a valid CPR and First Aid certification. Service hours, lunch and snacks are provided!

Ride Marshals are registered cyclists who act as both Good-Will and Safety Ambassadors for Bike MS. Ride Marshal applicants must be 18 years of age, be passionate and knowledgeable about safe cycling, and be willing to work with fellow cyclists to promote safe cycling. Ride Marshals must have completed at least two Bike MS events within five years.
