Amateur radio operators are assigned to several different groups or stationed at different locations along the route. This is a one- or two-day commitment, depending on your location.

(Free breakfast, Lunch, refreshments, and invitation to Saturday night dinner and entertainment included) 

Standing or sitting at the start/finish line to cheer on participants, using noise makers, handing out medals/mementos, often these volunteers are asked to bring encouraging signs or cheering swag from home to the event. Late shifts may be asked to help clear up as the event draws to a close. 

Select your own start and finish time between 9.30 AM and 4.00 PM- Add your choice in the 'Response Notes' Section

Responsibilities include setting up the site- unpacking boxes, hanging up banners, etc. Occasional heavy lifting may be required. 

Responsibilities/ Requirements Include:

*All Motorcycle Marshals are required to wear a helmet

*If you are First Aid/CPR certified and would be willing to provide First Aid support on route. Please add to the comment section when registering. 

*Encouraged to be active amateur radio operators with VHF/UHF HAM radio capability on the motorcycle and a cellular phone for backup communications.

*Motorcycle Marshals must have a valid motorcycle driver's license and proof of insurance covering the motorcycle to be ridden in Bike MS. Both must be sent to the MS Society in advance of your shift.

*Current policy does not allow sidecars or trailers towed behind the motorcycle. 

*HAM license and the ability to operate from your motorcycle are encouraged.

Activities include: Using personal photography equipment, capture event including team photos, start & finish line photos, route photos, & festival area photos. Volunteer Photographers are expected to share full rights to digital media with the MS Society in-kind. 

First Aid Volunteers consists of certified medical professionals (EMT, EMS, RN, Medical/Nursing Students etc.) who administer First-Aid to event participants.*This volunteer position is not a bike-riding position.

This position provides basic first aid to the cyclists at the start/finish location. First Aid tent and basic supplies provided - Volunteers are welcome to bring their own first aid equipment.

Shuttle participants along the route. Proof of current driver's license and automobile insurance required. Background check required. Indicate if HAM Radio operator.

The Roaming position supports locations include rest stops, lunch, and along the route.*This volunteer position is not a bike-riding position - Volunteers can use their own vehicles - Fuel card provided 

Ride Marshals are registered cyclists who act as both Good-Will and Safety Ambassadors for Bike MS. Ride Marshal applicants must be 18 years of age, be passionate and knowledgeable about safe cycling, and be willing to work with fellow cyclists to promote safe cycling. Ride Marshals must have completed at least two Bike MS events within five years.

Activities Include: Setting up/taking down the site, running hydration/fruit stations, serving food and beverages to participants, providing excellent support to riders and customer service. (Occasional lifting may be required)

Volunteer massage therapists must provide a digital copy of their massage licensure and insurance. If the team of therapists are all covered under one insurance umbrella (a company, etc.) then a copy of that policy will suffice. Massage therapists use touch to treat and alleviate participants’ injuries and fatigue as well as promote general wellness.

Therapists will be able to charge $20 for each 15 minute massage. Collecting payments is the responsibility of each Massage Therapist.
