Responsibilities Include:

Responsibilities Include:

Driving, loading, and unloading trucks and vans carrying supplies along the route Moderate-to-heavy lifting may be required Drivers with commercial licenses or experience driving high profile vehicles is preferred but not required. Must be comfortable driving 16ft box truck

Made up of volunteers who provide medical assistance along the Bike MS route on event weekend Level of care will usually be BLS, but can include BTLS and ALS Must have a minimum of ECA or greater- BTLS, ACLS and any other specialty certifications are welcomed Affiliation with a fire department, EMS service or hospital is not required but some pre-hospital experience is preferred Medical support volunteers will have BLS as well as BSI items available Communication is via MS Society provided LTE radios to the event’s Command Center. *This volunteer position includes First Responders Driving along the route.

Applicants must be:

18 years of agePassionate and knowledgeable about safe cyclingWilling to work with fellow cyclists to promote safe cycle
Willing to provide guidance/directions on routing and bring attention to any safety concerns that arise during the eventPrepared to carry tools and supplies necessary to support our riders.Also must have completed at least two Bike MS events within five yearsAble to assist with flat tires and quickly assess if a bike is in good working order to continue

*Ride Marshals are registered cyclists who act as both Good-Will and Safety Ambassadors for Bike MS.

Responsibilities/ Requirements Include:

Providing motorcycle escort support along the route to troubleshoot problems and ensure rider safety (when needed) responding to emergencies and traffic situations Starting the Tour on Days 1 and/or 2 Monitoring the flow of riders Communicating with Tour officials via the command center or net control Handling minor incidents

*All Motorcycle Marshals are required to wear a helmet and may not participate while towing a trailer

*Encouraged to be active amateur radio operators with VHF/UHF HAM radio capability on the motorcycle and a cellular phone for backup communications.

*Motorcycle Marshals must have a valid motorcycle driver's license and proof of insurance covering the motorcycle to be ridden in Bike MS. Both must be sent to the MS Society in advance of your shift.

*HAM license and the ability to operate from your motorcycle are encouraged.

Volunteers are assigned to several different groups or stationed at different locations along the route.

*This is a one- or two-day commitment, depending on your location.

 

Will receive a distinctive POLICE BIB # for the ride  May be called upon for assistance at any time along the route. Not mandated to ride both days, it's greatly appreciated if possible.

*Assistance may be needed for any riders, EMS officials, event officials or other law enforcement officers working the route. 

*This volunteer position includes First Responders and First Aid volunteers.  We do not ride bikes during the event!

The first aid site support team is made up of volunteers who provide medical assistance along the Bike MS route on event weekend. The first aid site support team will staff first aid stations at rest stops, lunch, overnight location, finish line and more.  The level of care will usually be BLS, but can include BTLS and ALS. First aid site support volunteers must have a minimum of a First Aid/CPR Certification. Affiliation with a fire department, EMS service or hospital is not required but some pre-hospital experience is preferred. Medical support volunteers will have BLS as well as BSI items available. Communication is via MS Society provided LTE radios to the event’s Command Center.
