High Priority Roles:
All of our volunteer roles are incredibly important and we greatly appreciate people who volunteer in any capacity. Some of our roles have proven to be more challenging to recruit for when compared to others. These roles include:
- SAG Driver - Drive either a golf cart or rented vehicle to patrol the route and provide support for any Walk MS Participants who require assistance
- First Aid - first aid/CPR certification required
- Amateur Photographer - no advanced skill or fancy equipment required, cell phone photos are absolutely welcome!
- Set Up/Tear Down
New Roles:
Our new Walk MS Experience comes with exciting new volunteer roles also! These roles include:
- The Center (Formerly Living with MS) - Setting up/breaking down area with appropriate supplies, managing the area during the event which may include passing out bandanas, Society print materials, speaking to constituents about MS Society. Taking inventory post event of diagnosis date stickers and I walk with MS bandanas.
- Complete The Circle Display Greeters - Setting up/taking down Complete the Circle interactive graphic, set up and manage circle stickers and offer instruction to participants on how to fill out and apply circle stickers to graphic. Take inventory post event of Circle of Support Stickers
- Top Fundraiser Area Registration - Provides excellent customer service and registration services for Top Fundraisers, Includes setting up/breaking down TFA Registration, providing check in and registration services, collecting donations and delivering them on behalf of TF to main Registration tent handing out credentials, answer questions. Background check required.
- TFA Lead: Manages TFA to create an outstanding event experience for Top Fundraisers.
- TFA Greeters: Welcomes Top Fundraisers into the TFA Area. Provides information and able to answer general questions
- TFA Photo Area: Stationed at the step-and-repeat display to assist TF participants take photos. Can use their personal photography equipment, cell phone or participants cell phone. If more than one in TFA area, can take candid photos around the area.
- TFA Food & Beverage Team: Setting up/taking down the food and beverage area. Provide an elevated food and beverage experience to TFs, set out water and other beverages, serve coffee ( if not self-serve) lay out snacks. Keep area clean.
- TFA Green Team: Pick up and emptying trash and recycles bins and generally keeping area clean and safe. Restock water and ice. Periodic checks on portos that they have toilet paper, etc.
Together, we become a powerful force.
Each year, thousands of people across the country join the Walk MS volunteer team.
From planning event details, and calling past participants, to providing safety and support for participants at the event, volunteers make Walk MS happen, and are the foundation of why Walk MS is the largest walking fundraising event in the country.
