We need volunteers to hang out at our rest stops and essentially host a mini tailgate with the supplies we provide. Our cyclists absolutely love seeing friendly people when they stop for a snack or drink. We’re looking for a Rest Stop Lead who’s motivated and excited to make their rest stop fun and relaxing for our cyclists!
Responsibilities:
- Recruit two or more people to volunteer with you
- I’m happy to verify community service hours for anyone who needs them as well. This is a great opportunity for people of all ages and abilities, friends and family are more than welcome to join.
- If you are unable to recruit your own volunteers, I can help
- Show up at the rest stop location at the start of your volunteer time
- Our supply truck drivers will drop your supplies off for you to set up. You and your team will:
- Set up the tent(s)
- Set up the tables
- Set out snacks and Gatorade/water
- Decorate your rest stop (optional)
- Feel free to bring decorations if you’d like to
- You can also play music! When making music selections, please be mindful that some of our riders are children
- Greet riders as they arrive at the rest stop
- Cheering is encouraged!
- Offer riders snacks and Gatorade/water
- Restock as needed
- Remain at rest stop until one of our Safety and Gear (SAG) Drivers has told you the last rider has come through
- Once the last rider has come through, pack the supplies back up and leave them where you found them (supply trucks will come back around to collect)
Lunch will be provided for all volunteers working past 11am and all rest stop volunteers are invited to join us for festivities and dinner at the finish line after their shift!
